We Need to Get the Death, Burial, & Resurrection Right
To my sisters and brothers in Christ, the foundation of our faith, is in the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Which is based on Him being dead for 3 complete days. However, we commit sacrilege when we promote, celebrate, and acknowledge (Good Friday) as the day Jesus died on. If we say Jesus died on Friday, we are in opposition to the foundation which establishes us in his redemption. We must be assured of Matt.12:39,40 39. But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: 40. For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
It is imperative we acknowledge in verse 40, his sign would be 3 days and 3 nights in the heart of the earth.
So, the sign given to his generation and to every other generation concerning his death, is the sign of the prophet Jonah. He stayed inside the belly of a whale for 72hrs. Therefore, let’s not preach and teach sacrilege; by saying he died Friday at 6pm and arose Sunday at 6am, which is only a day and a half. Jesus died Wednesday at 6pm.
Let’s not promote the religious lie of sacrilege and the false traditions of men concerning the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This false teaching comes from Satan, who desires to make any reasonably minded person believe, you can get 3 days and 3 nights from Friday evening to Sunday morning.
For some people this may seem trivial, however it is not. Is it not trivial to God, who is a God of order, and He demands things are to be done a certain way, as in the Passover and as in how many days the Lord Jesus was to be in the grave. King David found this out when he brought the ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem in an inappropriate manner. This resulted in the death of one of his subjects. GOD IS A GOD OF ORDER! The Lord Jesus body was dead for 72 hours, as was used by the reference of Jonah.
